BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Austin Independent School District in Texas is considering dropping water polo. While this may not affect most of us directly, I think we all realize how devastating it will be for the athletes involved.
There is a local group working to convince the decision-makers to maintain the sport, and they have asked the water polo community to show their support. You can do so in two ways:
- Submit a COMMENT CARD (CLICK HERE) – this takes two minutes; select Anderson High School as the location
- Mobilize administrators, players, parents and coaches to SIGN THIS PETITION.
Please consider helping these athletes by making your voice heard.

NOTE: Austin ISD is weighing whether to cut its water polo program as part of a broader effort to close a $181 million budget deficit. The proposal, which would save $89,000, is set for a final board vote on June 18.
