2022 Brown University Women’s Water Polo Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I.  — Brown University Head Coaching Chair for Water Polo Felix Mercado announced the institution’s 2023 women’s water polo schedule. The Bears will play 15 home games through the months of February to April with the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) slated to be decided on Friday-Sunday, April 28-30, at Princeton University in Princeton, N.J.

Brown will begin its season hosting the Bruno Classic from Friday-Sunday, February 3-5. During the weekend Brown will face off against La Salle University, Siena College, Long Island University, Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, Austin College and Wagner College. The Bears will also host Carthage College (Saturday, March 4) along the University of Redlands and Wagner (Sunday, March 5).

On Saturday-Sunday, February 18-19, the Bears will travel to the Santa Clara University Spring Tournament for games versus the host Broncos, California State University Monterey Bay, California State University East Bay and San Jose State University.

A sojourn to Princeton for games against the host Tigers and Long Island on Sunday, February 26, leads to a weekend in Cambridge, Mass., at Harvard with clashes against the Crimson, La Salle and Siena on tap from Friday-Saturday, March 3-4.

Games against Concordia University and host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday, March 25, in Claremont, Calif., are followed by contests at Whittier College in Whittier, Calif., versus California State University-Northridge and the host Poets on Sunday, March 26.  The team’s California road trip continues on Wednesday, March 29, with games at Long Beach State University in Long Beach and the University of California-Irvine prior to returning home to wrap-up the regular season with league competition.

“I am excited for this upcoming season, especially our schedule,” said Mercado. “I feel that with the Bruno Classic, multiple trips to California, and our challenging conference schedule, our team will be able to build the experience we will need to compete for a championship.”

During conference play, Brown will host five-straight games beginning with games against Saint Francis University and the University of Michigan on Saturday, April 1 and Bucknell University on Sunday, April 2. On Saturday, April 8, Brown will take on Connecticut College and Princeton University. The Bears will close out the season with a home game against Harvard University on April 22 prior to the CWPA Championship at Princeton.
