CARLISLE, Pa. — Jojo Southwell (Jr, Seattle, Wash.) and Grace Sheehan (Sr., Newtown Square, Pa.) scored four and three goals, respectively, to share Player of the Game recognition as No. 12-ranked/No. 13 position/Northwest Division Champion the University of Washington handled No. 16 position/Mid-Atlantic Division runner-up the University of Pittsburgh, 11-5, in a 13th/15th place game at the 2026 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship hosted at the Carlisle YMCA Aquatic Center.
Due to limited pool time during the three-day, 30-game championship, the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th positions in the field are not played out. The victors from a pair of 13th/15th place games tie for 13th in the final standings, while the contest’s losers tied for 15th.
In the history of the championship, the Huskies had previously placed first (2000), sixth (2003, 2019, 2023), seventh (2016, 2017, 2018), eighth (2004), 12th (2024) and 13th (2008, 2025) as Washington tacks on a second 13th place mark within the past two years. Pittsburgh tacks on a 15th place mark to follow prior ninth (2017) and 12th (2016) place finishes in the team’s two prior appearances at the National Collegiate Club Championship.
Pittsburgh raced out of the gate to claim an early lead as Nicki Wealand (Sr., Ambler, Pa.) and Madalynn Buss (So., York, Pa.) spun shots into the twine with 5:34 and 3:30 left on the first quarter clock, respectively. Southwell cut the Panthers’ lead in half with a successful heave at 2:16 but Brenna Mancini (Jr., Lansdale, Pa.) got the goal back with 26 seconds to go for a 3-1 Panthers’ margin after seven minutes of action.
The contest’s tide dramatically shifted in the second quarter as Reis Every (Fr., Gig Harbor, Wash.) (4:59, man-up), Mia Stitt (Jr., Gig Harbor, Wash.) (56 seconds, man-up), Sheehan (25 seconds) and Southwell (11 seconds) strung together a 4-0 second quarter outburst to push ahead 5-3.
Buss snapped the Huskies’ scoring run by notching a tally with 4:04 remaining in the third quarter to shrink Washington’s lead down to one at 5-4.
The Panthers’ comeback hopes were short-lived as Southwell (3:47, 1:37) and Remy Gapasin (Fr., Brentwood, Calif.) (1:04, penalty shot) punched in a trio of tallies to expand the lead to four goals at 8-4 exiting the third quarter.
Sheehan (6:38) and Iben Orton (So., Bend, Ore.) (6:03) expanded the spread to 10-4 before Katie Welton (Sr., Erie, Pa.) answered for Pittsburgh at 2:09 to move the Panthers within five at 10-5. Sheehan delivered Washington’s final goal of the season 18 seconds later as the senior stroked in a shot at 1:51 to establish the 11-5 final score.
For Pitt, Buss (two), Welton, Wealand and Mancini combined for five goals. Goalkeeper Hannah Hosterman (Fr., Harleysville, Pa.) made seven saves.
Southwell (four), Sheehan (three), Gaspian (two), Stitt and Every combined for Washington’s 11 goals. Julia Lubas (Sr., Glen Ellen, Calif.) contributed five saves.
