2019 Men’s Collegiate Club Great Lakes Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Collegiate Club Great Lakes Division schedule.
Comprised of Grand Valley State University, Illinois State University, Miami University (Ohio), the University of Cincinnati, the University of Dayton, the University of Notre Dame, Xavier University and newcomer Davenport University, the Great Lakes Division will contest its 20th season as part of the Collegiate Water Polo Association. In the history of the division, Iowa State University (1997), Western Illinois University (1998), Grand Valley State (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2016), the University of Illinois-Chicago (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015) and The Ohio State University (2013, 2014, 2017, 2018) have all claimed at least one championship.
The division’s competitive format is comprised of three regional weekends where teams attend two of the three and all teams attend the championship weekend. During the regular season, teams play every opponent once and one opponent twice that is randomly selected based on each team’s weekend availability.
Competition begins on Saturday-Sunday, September 14-15, at Cincinnati’s Keating Aquatic Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the team will host Dayton, Illinois State, Miami (Ohio) and Xavier for a 10-game weekend. Action resumes on Saturday-Sunday, September 21-22, as Davenport, Grand Valley State, Illinois State and Xavier go to Notre Dame’s Rolfs Aquatic Center in Notre Dame, Ind., for another 10-game clash.
The regular season closes out at Dayton’s RecPlex in Dayton, Ohio, on Saturday-Sunday, October 5-6, as Cincinnati, Davenport, Grand Valley State Miami (Ohio) and Notre Dame contest a 12-game weekend to establish the final seeds for the 12-game Great Lakes Division Championship hosted by Davenport at East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Mich., on Saturday-Sunday, October 26-27.
The victor of the division championship earns an automatic berth to the 2019 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday-Sunday, November 15-17.
