2019 Men’s Collegiate Club Rocky Mountain Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Collegiate Club Rocky Mountain Division schedule.
Comprised of Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, Northern Arizona University, the University of Colorado “A”, the University of Colorado “B”, the University of Denver, the University of New Mexico, the University of Utah “A”, the University of Utah “B”, the University of Wyoming, Utah State University and Colorado Mesa University – which may compete as an exhibition team depending on the size of its squad- the Rocky Mountain Division will contest its 13th season as part of the CWPA.
In the history of the division, Utah (2007, 2009, 2012, 2018), Colorado (2008, 2010, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017) and Arizona State University (2011, 2013) have previously won the group’s title.
The division’s competitive format is comprised of two regional tournaments, a crossover tournament and the championship weekend. Every team attends the championship, the crossover and one of the regional tournaments. As of August 19, Northern Arizona is determining its ability to complete. If NAU is unable to play, the Rocky Mountain Division schedule will be revised.
Competition begins on Saturday-Sunday, September 28-29, at Wyoming’s Corbett Pool as Colorado “A”, Colorado “B”, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State, Denver and the host Cowboys contest a 12-game weekend. During the same weekend, Colorado Mesa, New Mexico, Northern Arizona, Utah “A” and Utah “B” square-off in a 12-game event at Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The regular season comes to a close at Colorado Mesa’s El Pomar Aquatic Center in Grand Junction, Colo., on Friday-Sunday, October 11-13, as all 12 teams converge for a 24-game showdown to establish the final seeds for the division championship tournament.
The Rocky Mountain Division Championship will be decided with 18 games hosted by Colorado at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton, Colo., on Saturday-Sunday, October 26-27.
The victor of the division championship earns an automatic berth to the 2019 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday-Sunday, November 15-17.
