2021 Men’s Collegiate Club Atlantic Division Schedule
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2021 Men’s Collegiate Club Atlantic Division schedule.
Comprised of George Washington University, Georgetown University, James Madison University, the United States Naval Academy and the University of Maryland in the Northern Region, along with North Carolina State University, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, the University of Virginia, Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech) and Wake Forest University in the Southern Region, the Atlantic Division will contest its 21st season of competition with the University of Richmond (2000), Georgetown (2001, 2002, 2005), Virginia (2003), North Carolina-Chapel Hill (2004, 2010, 2011, 2012), Virginia Tech (2006, 2007, 2009, 2017), Duke (2008, 2014, 2016), Maryland (2013, 2015) and Navy (2018, 2019) previously claiming titles. The 2020 season was not contested due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to constraints caused by available pools during the COVID-19 pandemic, the division schedule will consist of two regular season regional tournaments. George Washington, Georgetown, Navy and James Madison will visit Maryland in College Park, Md., on Saturday-Sunday, September 18-19, for 10-game Northern Region tournament, while Virginia will host North Carolina-Chapel Hill, North Carolina-Wilmington, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest for 12 games on Saturday-Sunday, September 25-26, in Charlottesville, Va.
The top two teams from each regional will qualify for the Mid-Atlantic/Atlantic “A” Championship at Villanova University/University of Pennsylvania on either October 23-24 or 30-31. The remaining teams will qualify for the “B” Championship if a site can be located.
The top finishing Atlantic Division team at the Mid-Atlantic/Atlantic Crossover earns an automatic berth to the 2021 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship slated to be hosted by the University of Alabama at the Huntsville Aquatic Center in Huntsville, Ala., on Friday-Sunday, November 12-14.
