BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Did you know Harvard University water polo has a connection to the conclusion of the television show, “The Wonder Years”?
The son of actor Daniel Stern, former Harvard water polo athlete and current California State Senator Henry Stern helped conclude a television show from the 1980’s. His father performed the narrative voiceover of adult Kevin Arnold for the hit television series The Wonder Years for six seasons. At the end of the show’s series finale, Henry Stern delivered the next-to-last line of the entire series when he called to his father–in voiceover–“Hey Dad, wanna play catch?” to which his father replies “I’ll be right there.”
A Democrat representing the 27th district, encompassing parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, he was elected to office in November 2016 and served as an environmental attorney and senior advisor to his predecessor Fran Pavley prior to entering politics.
A 2004 graduate of Harvard, an alum of the University of California-Berkely’s law school and a member of the Crimson’s 2000 water polo team, he became the first Millennial elected to the California State Senate. A past law lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles, he has served as counsel to Congressman Henry Waxman on the House Energy & Commerce Committee to help construct clean energy projects for businesses. He has also taught civics, founded a tech incubator, and advocated for juvenile justice.
