BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) goes into the archives of the United States Naval Academy for a men’s game pitting the Midshipmen against Princeton University in the semifinals of the 2010 CWPA Eastern Championship hosted at Bucknell University’s Kinny Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa.
The game occurred on November 20, 2010 as Navy jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in turning back the Tigers, 8-5, to earn a spot in the CWPA Championship title game. The victory guaranteed Navy advanced to the program’s sixth consecutive CWPA Eastern Championship.
Junior Kyle Wertz led the Midshipmen with three goals in the victory as Navy became the inaugural team since the Brown University Bears (1981-87) to reach six or more consecutive Eastern title games.
