BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Luca Silvestri (Jr., Napoli, Italy/Istituto Comprensvo Sacro Cuore (Westcliff University)) of No. 15-ranked Fordham University posted 15 goals, five assists, 13 steals and five field blocks over the span of six games during the Rams’ West Coast swing to earn status as the October 23 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Player of the Week.

A two-time Rookie of the Week (September 26, October 31) and prior Player of the Week (October 31) selection during his first season in the Bronx last year, he previously earned the October 2 and 9 Defensive Player of the Week awards earlier this year as he rates among a few athletes to earn a triple crown with all three awards (Player, Defensive Player, Rookie) during a collegiate career.

On Wednesday, October 18, he opened the trip in Stockton, Calif., by recording pairs of goals and field blocks in a 12-10 loss at No. 16 University of the Pacific.  Silvestri added three goals, four steals and a field block in an 18-11 loss at No. 2 the University of California in Berkeley, Calif., on Thursday, October 19, prior to making his mark at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament hosted by No. 14 San Jose State University and No. 20 Santa Clara University in San Jose and Santa Clara, Calif., respectively.

On Friday, October 20, he racked up two goals and four steals in a 10-8 loss to San Jose State.  

The Rams broke through for their first victory of the weekend on Saturday, October 21, as Silvestri chipped in two goals, three assists, three steals and a field block in a 15-10 dispatching of No. 17 California Baptist University.  Later in the day, he tallied two markers, dished out an assist and snagged a steal in a 12-10 win against Santa Clara.  

He capped off the week by compiling four goals, an assist, a steal and a field block in a 15-14 loss to No. 4 Pepperdine University on Sunday, October 22.
