WASHINGTON, D.C. — Behind a season-high six goals from Atakan Destici, George Washington University pulled away for a 19-12 win over Wagner College in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-East Region play at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool.

It was second convincing Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference victory in as many days for the Colonials who improved to 3-2 in league play.

GW trailed, 7-6, early in the second quarter before scoring 10 of the next 11 goals. Destici had three goals, while Andrew Mavis and Jordan Blosser each scored twice for the Colonials in the run that sunk  the Seahawks.

Mavis started the burst with the game-tying goal before Blosser netted two in quick succession to put the Colonials ahead for good. Brett Else‘s score with 57 second left in the third quarter extended the lead to 16-8.

Destici paced eight GW scorers and also made an impact defensively with four steals and a field block. Mavis posted four goals, two assists and three steals, while Pierce Deamer chipped in three goals.
