BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Goalie Hannah Heemstra (Jr., Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland) of Grand Valley State University posted 20 saves and 12 goals allowed with three assists and a steal in leading the Lakers to their division’s championship. For her performance, she earns notice as the April 24 Women’s Collegiate Club Midwest Division Player of the Week.
Following 16-3 and 9-6 defeats of Saint Louis University and Lindenwood University, respectively, at the University of Notre Dame’s Rolfs Aquatic Center in Notre Dame, Indiana, she aided the Lakers’ cause in turning back McKendree University by a 6-5 count to capture the Midwest Division crown and punch the program’s ticket to the 2017 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Pittsburgh on Friday-Sunday, May 5-6.
