KENOSHA, Wis. — The Grove City College women’s water polo team dropped a pair of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III-West Region outings as the Wolverines fell to Division III No. 7-ranked Austin College, 16-7, and host Carthage College, 14-6.

Sophomore Frances Baksa (Longwood, Fla./Lake Mary) fired in three goals against Austin, while junior Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) scored twice. Senior Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) and sophomore Emma Strahorn (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) also scored for the Wolverines.

Baksa also had three assists. Strahorn, Tihansky and freshman Amelia Hervey (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) each assisted one goal.

Tihansky paced Grove City’s defense with five steals, while Strahorn secured four steals. Baksa and senior goalie Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) both had two takeaways. Steen stopped 10 shots.

Carthage outscored Grove City, 5-0, in the fourth quarter to break open the Wolverines’ second game. Tihansky scored three times to accompany solo strikes by Baksa, Hervey and Strahorn. Sill chalked up three assists and Hervey added an assist.

Tihansky and freshman Emily Addison (Eads, Tenn./Faith Heritage Christian) both recorded three steals. Steen posted three saves.
