GROVE CITY, Pa. — The Grove City College women’s water polo team closed the 2024 regular season by earning a 16-13 victory over Penn State Behrend at home in James E. Longnecker Pool after dropping a 17-11 decision to visiting Washington & Jefferson College earlier in the day.
Four Grove City players scored multiple goals in the win over Behrend. Sophomore Kiley Sill (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) fired in six goals to help lead the Wolverines, while freshman Shastyn Tihansky (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) added five goals.
Juniors Kamryn Kerr (East Grand Rapids, Mich./East Grand Rapids) and Riley McCullough (Spring, Texas/Oak Ridge) both scored twice, while freshman Carolyn Marks (Milford, Ohio/Milford) also scored.
Marks led Grove City with four assists while Kerr and McCullough each assisted three scores. Sill assisted two goals. Tihansky, senior Clarie Lochstet (Ambler, Pa./Upper Dublin) and sophomore Candace Scalise (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) all chalked up an assist.
Lochstet and Sill both had four steals to help pace the defense. In goal, sophomore Lea Steen (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) stopped 14 shots to earn the win.
Kerr scored six times against W&J while Lochstet added a pair of scores. McCullough, Sill and Tihansky also scored in the opener.
Kerr also led Groev City with three assists against W&J while Sill had two assists. Lochstet, Marks, McCullough, senior Katie Goodwill (Mogadore, Ohio/Kent Roosevelt), junior Sam Logue (Hollister, Calif./San Benito) and junior Mikayla Zablocki (Kittanning, Pa./Armstrong) also recorded assists.
Kerr tallied five steals and Steen secured three steals. Steen stopped six shots.
