CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In response to the rise of COVID-19 in the broader Harvard community, the Harvard Athletics Department is limiting spectators at its home athletics events through January 23, 2022.

“The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, staff, fans and the broader Harvard community is our top priority,” said Erin McDermott, The John D. Nichols ’53 Family Directory of Athletics. “In coordination with University leadership and medical experts, we continue to adjust as circumstances develop, while remaining committed to preserving competitive opportunities for Harvard student-athletes.”

The following changes will go into effect immediately through January 23:

  • Events will continue to be held as scheduled.
  • Events will not be open to the general public.
  • In venues that have been approved for spectators, a limited number of guests of the student-athletes and coaches will be allowed on a pass list. The exact number of guests will be determined based on Harvard University venue policies.
  • Proof of vaccination by showing one’s vaccine card, a photo of one’s card or a digital vaccine record is required for all indoor athletic events. The vaccine card must show two dates for Moderna/Pfizer and one date for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
  • Consistent with the campus visitor policy, guests (12 years of age and older) will be required to show proof of full vaccination.
  • Negative COVID-19 tests will no longer be sufficient for entry.
  • Concessions will not be available at any venue through Jan. 23.
  • Masks are still required for all spectators.

As a result, ticket purchasers of all events through Jan. 23 will have the option to have their payment applied as a credit for future events, counted as a donation in support of Harvard Athletics, or receive a refund. All ticket purchasers will be contacted directly by the Harvard Ticket Office in the coming days regarding ticketing options.

Some additional reminders:

  • Fans should not come to the Harvard Athletics complex if they are not feeling well or have symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Additional hand sanitizer stations have been added throughout the athletics complex. Fans and staff are encouraged to use these, and wash their hands regularly, on gameday.
  • Information regarding spring contests will be released at a later date.
