PRINCETON, N.J. — Princeton University men’s water polo announced the selection of Luke Johnston as the program’s Scott Roche ’94 Award winner.

The Roche ’94 Award honors the team’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) senior student-athlete. It is given to players who embody exceptional energy and determination, a fierce competitive spirit, and a genuine passion for the game, qualities that Johnston consistently displayed.

“It is not possible to sum up Luke’s contributions and impact on this program in a quote,” said head coach Dustin Litvak

“He has been a selfless leader, staying positive and relentlessly strong through much personal adversity. His consistency and determination are inspiring. Luke helped ensure that our team maintained the success and highest standards set forth by those before him. His competitive spirit and leadership will be sorely missed but if you know Luke, you know he’s destined for greatness wherever he goes.”

Johnston, a captain in his senior year, appeared in 115 career games, recording 81 goals and 17 assists to go along with 41 steals and 52 drawn ejections. He also played a key role in four straight Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) titles from 2022 to 2025, as the program capped the season with its fifth consecutive championship.
