BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Cara Mullery (Fr., Palmetto Bay, Fla./MAST Academy) of Division III No. 9-ranked Macalester College tallied nine goals over three games to average a hat-trick in helping lead the Scots to the 2017 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship.  For her performance, she earns recognition as the April 24 CWPA Division III Rookie of the Week.

Playing at home in Riley Pool, she netted three goals against Grove City College in the Scots’ 11-3 opening win prior to racking up four strikes in a 10-2 defeat of Carthage College in the tournament semifinals.

Facing Division III No. 10 and CWPA Division III regular season champion Washington & Jefferson College for the league crown, Mullery posted a pair of markers as Macalester outlasted the Presidents, 10-9, in overtime.

The 2017 CWPA Division III Rookie of the Year and the CWPA Division III Championship Rookie of the Tournament, Mullery collects her fifth weekly honor from the league office as she earned Player of the Week notice on March 20 to accompany Rookie accolades on March 20, March 27 and April 10.
