BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The 2017 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the CWPA Division III Championship MVP, Lucille Moran (So., Ann Arbor, Mich/Huron) of Division III No. 9-ranked Macalester College scored 14 goals over the span of the league championship tournament to garner recognition as the April 24 CWPA Division III Player of the Week.
Playing at home in Riley Pool, she posted five goals in an 11-3 victory over Grove City College in the quarterfinals and four tallies in a 10-2 triumph over Carthage College in the semifinals. Facing Division III No. 10 Washington & Jefferson College for the program’s inaugural CWPA Division III crown, Moran scored five times in a 10-9 overtime victory against the Presidents. Her goal with 18 seconds left in the second overtime period proved to be the game-winner.
Now a four-time weekly award recipient from the CWPA Office after previously garnering the February 29 and April 4 Division III Rookie of the Week awards during the 2016 season, Moran shared the March 27 Player of the Week award with Becca Dabrowski (So., McHenry, Ill./West) of Monmouth College earlier this season.
