PRINCETON, N.J.  — Mount St. Mary’s University won the program’s third and final match of the 2025 Princeton Invitational hosted by Princeton University via a 16-6 victory versus Long Island University. 

The Mountaineers earned their second win of the year, improving to 2-5 on the young season, including a 1-3 mark in New Jersey at Princeton.

The Mountaineers’ offensive push started early in the first quarter against the Sharks as the squad claimed a 5-0 advantage in the opening quarter with two goals from Ioannis Skliras and solo strikes by Jack Fox, William Matthews and Aaron Tarr. LIU rebounded in the second quarter to blank the Mountaineers and close the gap to 5-3 heading into halftime.

The Mount responded in the third quarter by firing in five goals from the arms of Chrysostomos Valavanis, Tarr and Matthews. Alexandros Belesis started his scoring in the third quarter as well, putting two past the Sharks’ defense. Along with a goal from Ivan Morales in the forth quarter, Belesis found the net on five more occasions to close out the the team’s second win on the year.

Belesis notched seven goals from 10 shots along with five assists and four steals. Matthews tacked on pairs of goals and assists, while Tarr posted two goals and four steals. Skliras also posted a pair of goals with Morales and Fox contributing single tallies.

In goal, Sherif Hosni made 15 saves.

For Long Island, Jack French scored twice with David Shalman, Lucas Ramirez, Dylan Rothenberg and Mark Malamud each accounting for solo strikes.
