LEWISBURG, Pa. — Mount St. Mary’s University started the 2023 Bucknell Invitational hosted by Bucknell University at Kinney Natatorium with a commanding 15-9 defeat of Mercyhurst University.

The Mountaineers outscored the Lakers in three of the four quarters, while allowing only three goals until the final eight minutes of regulation.

The Mountaineers controlled the pace of the game from start to finish as they concluded the first quarter ahead 2-0 and entered halftime with a 7-1 lead.

Out of the break, Mount St. Mary’s put the game away by scoring five goals in the third quarter to pull ahead 12-3 after 24 minutes of competition.

Mercyhurst shrank the final differential in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Mountaineers 6-3.
