2022 Mount St. Mary’s University Men’s Water Polo Schedule

EMMITSBURG, Md. — For their third season in program history, the Mount St. Mary’s men’s water polo team gears up for 27 regular season games this fall.

With the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) combining its East and West Divisions, this year’s schedule features more conference opponents. In fact, 16 of the 27 games count towards the MAWPC record.

Over the season, the Mount competes in three tournaments, 14 conference showdowns and a non-conference game with Penn State Behrend. Tournament play includes the Gary Troyer Tournament, which pulls water polo teams nationwide to Southern California as September switches to October.

MAWPC games commence at the Bucknell Invite September 17 and an immediate challenge against the defending MAWPC champion Fordham University Rams. The weekend is all conference opponents with the Salem University match counting towards the conference standings along with Fordham.

All of September’s contests take place on the road.  Four of the five home games run from October 8-to-15, with a day/night doubleheader with George Washington University and Johns Hopkins University serving as the opener.

November wraps up the regular season with an interesting twist. On November 5, the Mount travels for a morning road game at Bucknell University before coming back to Emmitsburg for a nighttime game against Wagner College. Later that month, Fordham hosts all teams for the MAWPC Championship tournament.

Six of the teams are first-time opponents of Mount St. Mary’s, including the four challengers at Gary Troyer. Of the list of rematches, the Mount holds winning records against three – Mercyhurst University (4-0), Salem (3-1) and Penn State Behrend (2-0).

The Mount looks to improve on a 7-24 record from 2021.
