STANFORD, Calif. The No. 11-ranked Harvard University women’s water polo team scored three times in the final quarter during a 16-5 loss at No. 1 Stanford University.

Stanford surged to an 11-1 lead at halftime, netting seven consecutive goals. The Crimson responded with four of its five goals in the second half, holding their own against the nation’s top team, as Stanford outscored them 5-4 in the latter half.

Sofia Del Villar led the Crimson’s offense by scoring her team’s first two goals, one in the second quarter and another in the third frame.

Heidi Heffelfinger, Ruby Hodge and Niki Piovan also found the back of the net.

Erin Kim tallied two assists, while Ella Schneider and Dany Zapata each contributed solo helpers.
