No. 10 Florida International University-vs.-Cornell University Scoresheet (2026 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship – Game #11)

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Florida Division Champion/No. 10-ranked Florida International University utilized 4-2 and 3-2 scoring advantages in the third and fourth quarters to overcome a 9-7 halftime deficit in topping New York Division Champion Cornell University, 14-13, in a consolation game on Day One of the 2026 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship.

Competing at the Huntsville Aquatics Center in Huntsville, Alabama, the Golden Panthers – which previously placed Second at the 2009 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship hosted by the University of Florida after taking Fifth (2006), Sixth (2007) and Seventh (2005) in prior trips to the tournament – punched their ticket to a 2:50 p.m. Central matchup with Missouri Valley Division Champion Iowa State University on Saturday, November 7, with a spot in the National Collegiate Club Championship Ninth Place game on Sunday, November 8 at stake.

Cornell will compete in a 13th/15th place game at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, against Northwest Division Champion/No. 11 University of Oregon as both the Big Red and Ducks will conclude their time in Alabama. Due to time constraints, the 13h-to-16th positions are not played out with the winners of the two 13th/15th place games tying for 13th and the losers tying for 15th in the final standings.

In the history of the Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship, Cornell has previously placed Fourth (2000 at King County Aquatic Center, Federal Way, Wash.), 11th (2021 at Huntsville), 12th (2013 at University of California-San Diego) along with tying for 13th (2014 at Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center, Salt Lake City, Utah) and 15th (2012 at Osborn Aquatic Center, Corvallis, Ore.).

Yassin Moussa (Cairo, Egypt), Lester Macado (Hialeah, Fla.) and Yassin Taymour (Cairo, Egypt) each scored four times to share Player of the Game laurels with Yovany Marquez (Hialeah, Fla.) chipping in a pair of markers.  Goalkeeper Connor Altenado (Miami, Fla.) made 10 saves to earn the win.

Across the tank, Yair Sas (Berkeley, Calif.) and Camden Keller (Seal Beach, Calif.) both posted a game-high five goals to power Cornell.  Rogelio Cianchini (San Juan, Puerto Rico) tacked on a pair of tallies with Eric Park (Irvine, Calif.) notching a solo score.  Joshua Ploshay (Houston, Texas) posted four saves in taking the loss.
