FULLERTON, Calif. — The No. 18-ranked Brown University men’s water polo team improved to 7-1 on the season as the Bears bested Biola University, 8-7, and Fresno Pacific University, 13-8, on the first day of the 2026 Fullerton Mini Tournament hosted by California State University-Fullerton.
In the day’s opener versus Biola, the Bears and the Eagles played a back-and-forth game as the game-winning goal came in the final minutes of the game.
Máté Tymcyna started off the scoring early for the Bears by putting home his 11th strike of the season just 17 seconds into the first quarter. First-year Roland Csendes scored also scored in the opening eight minutes followed by goals from Ramzi Megalli and William Vranesh during the remainder of the first half.
Entering the second half tied four-all, Tymcyna kept the Bears in the game by scoring three more goals for a total of four in the contest to notch his second hat-trick of the season. Biola answered back following each of Brown’s goals, but Csendes scored the game-winner for the Bears with 1:24 left in the fourth quarter to help secure an 8-7 victory.
Dimitrios Kratimenos made 12 saves for Brown in a complete game win.
In their second game of the day, Brown took an early lead versus Fresno Pacific in the first quarter as Griffin Tunney, Mac Berry and Jaxson Tierney each recorded a goal. Berry and Csendes extended the lead further for the Bears as Brown entered halftime with a 5-3 margin.
Brown’s offense exploded in the second half. Megalli scored again early in the third quarter, while Tierney and Berry each recorded their second goals of the game. Tymcyna scored his fifth goal of the day in the third quarter as well. Trey Rogers, Tunney and Csendes extended Brown’s lead in the fourth quarter in coasting to a 13-8 defeat of the Sunbirds.
In net, Ryan Miele recorded four saves for the Bears.
