LORETTO/LEWISBURG, Pa. — The No. 19-ranked Harvard University women’s water polo won a pair of games to open Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) play by topping host Saint Francis University, 11-4, in the morning before taking an 18-0 victory over Mount St. Mary’s University at Bucknell University.

Harvard improves to 11-1, 2-0 in league competition, and extends the program’s winning streak to nine games.

Opening its CWPA account on the road at Saint Francis, Harvard matched up with the Red Flash for the first time since an 11-5 victory on February 9, 2020.

The first quarter saw plenty of action, with Borden Wahl getting Harvard on the board within the first minute, a goal that was quickly answered. Annabel Facey netted a pair of goals in the first frame, while Quinne Pursell added one to her ledger, and Harvard held a 6-3 lead after the first quarter.

The Crimson was able to pull away in the second period, with Jaiden Miller adding her second goal of the game while Brooke Hourigan and Inde Halligan got on the scoresheet before Harvard took a 9-3 lead into the half.

Zoe Banks put the three-goal first period behind her, allowing just one for the remainder of the game behind seven saves.

Kaity Greenwald and Ella Prentice accounted for the lone Harvard second half goals, as the Crimson cruised to its eighth straight victory.

Miller and Facey led the Harvard attack with two goals each.  First-year Erin Kim recorded three steals with Hourigan adding two while netting a goal.

Traveling to the campus of Bucknell, the Crimson began its time in Lewisburg with a neutral-site matchup against Mount St. Mary’s. The game marked the inaugural meeting between Harvard and the Mountaineers as the Crimson did not compete in 2021 during Mount St. Mary’s inaugural season of play due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Harvard got out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter, with five different goal scorers in the frame including Kim, Pursell and Wahl.  Greenwald commenced the second quarter with her second of the game, while Miller quickly equaled the feat prior to completing a hat-trick.

Harvard took a commanding 13-0 lead into halftime after a pair of goals from Halligan and another tally from Wahl.

Banks spent the second half in search of her second career shutout as she finished the game with seven saves.

Greenwald and Pursell continued their scoring prowess in the second half with goals, while Sasha Constandse netted her first two of the contest after the break on the way to an 18-0 shutout.  The shutout marks the first by Harvard since a 17-0 blanking of La Salle University on February 3, 2019.

Miller and Greenwald each netted three goals to lead the attack.  Wahl scored a pair of goals with four assists in the victory.
