PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The No. 20-ranked Brown University women’s water polo split two games at home in the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center as the Bears celebrated their senior class.
Brown beat Connecticut College, 13-4, in a non-conference game to start the day but fell by an 8-5 score to No. 7 Princeton University in a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division I contest to close out the Bears’ weekend slate.
Facing Connecticut, the Bears jumped out to a big lead and did not look back against the Camels. Brown led 4-1 after the first quarter and 10-2 at halftime in the win.
Tallulah Clancy scored two goals in the first quarter, while Emily Suong and Katharine Knowles both had one.
In the second quarter, Brown had six different players score with goals coming from Claire Poissonnier, Madeline Poissonnier, Ella Palmer, Alexandra Love, Sabrina Shipley and Marina Demas.
Demas and Lucy Gramley both scored in the third quarter and Alessandra D’Arcy put away a shot in the final eight minutes of play.
Prior to facing Princeton in CWPA action, Brown honored its four seniors – Zoe King, Lily Weiser, Bryn Gioffredi and Claire Pisani.
Brown fell behind 3-0 after one quarter but picked up two goals from Palmer and one from King in the second quarter to trail 4-3 at halftime.
Princeton scored twice to start the second half before Pisani and Weiser found the net to make it a one goal game again.
However, the Tigers added two more goals late in the third quarter for the final tally.
