BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — No. 21-ranked Brown University will stream a women’s water polo doubleheader on Saturday, April 22, via ESPN+ as the Bears host No. 15 Harvard University in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) action prior to taking on St. Francis College Brooklyn in a non-conference game.
Competition begins at Noon on April 22 as the host Bears seek to handle Harvard. Brown enters the game one contest behind the Crimson in the CWPA Division I standings as Harvard (5-4) and Brown (4-5) will battle to see which team claims the No. 3 seed for the conference championship tournament on Friday-Sunday, April 28-30, at Princeton University in Princeton, N.J.
Harvard holds a prior 10-7 win over Brown from March 3 in Cambridge, Mass., as Bruno will need to clip the Crimson by either three goals to force a tiebreaker or four goals to claim the No. 3 seed outright. If the teams tie in goal differential (i.e., Brown wins by three), the Bears claim the No. 3 seed due to goal differential against teams seeded higher as Brown lost to Princeton (12-6 L, 8-5 L) and the University of Michigan (14-7 L, 11-10 L) for a -17 differential, while Harvard dropped games to Michigan (14-6 L, 15-8 L) and Princeton (11-4 L, 12-10 L) for a -24 differential.
Following the Brown-Harvard game, the Bears will return to the water at 5:00 p.m. for a final game against St. Francis Brooklyn. The Terriers’ program – along with all varsity athletes at St. Francis Brooklyn – is slated to be terminated following the 2022-23 academic year.
