PRINCETON, N.J. — Maddie Pendolino‘s hat trick helped the No. 21-ranked Princeton University Tigers rally in the second half to defeat the Long Island University Sharks, 13-9, at DeNunzio Pool in the final game of the 2020 Princeton Invitational.
Pendolino was one of eight players to score for Princeton in the victory. Kailie McGeoy, Margarita Orlova and CiCi Stewart registered two goals each in the win.
The first three quarters provided thrilling action with five lead changes and four ties. Neither team led by more than two goals. Alana Evans‘ goal with one second remaining gave Princeton a 7-6 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
McGeoy and Orlova pushed the Tigers’ lead to three, 9-6, with 6:40 left in the contest. The Sharks got within two twice, but tallies from McGeoy and Stewart stretched the home unit’s advantage to five and sealed the win.
