CARLISLE, Pa. —  Ben Edlund (Jr., Ann Arbor, Mich.) scored a game-high seven times – including five first half tallies – to claim Player of the Game laurels as Big Ten Division Champion/No. 8-ranked the University of Michigan built leads of 7-1 and 13-3 by the conclusion of the first and second quarters, respectively, on the way to a 17-6 defeat of Northwest Division Champion the University of Washington on the second day of the 2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship.

Courtesy the win, Michigan advances to a 2:15 p.m. Eastern meeting with New England Division Champion/No. 17 Dartmouth College on Sunday, November 9, for Ninth Place.  The loss places Washington in the 11th Place game at 3:30 p.m. on November 9 against Northwest Division Champion the University of Washington.

The Wolverines never trailed in collaring the Huskies as Ian Cardenas (Fr., Dana Point, Calif.) (5:45; 5:11), Mark Flautner (Fr., Ann Arbor, Mich.) (4:36), Edlund (3:55; 10 seconds), Zach Rossen (Jr., Los Angeles, Calif.) (2:26) and Jack Staunton (Jr., Ann Arbor, Mich.) (1:40) pumped in shots for the Maize & Blue, while sophomore Brian Stewart dented the twine for Washington (5:27) to make it a 7-1 game after seven minutes.

Rossen (4:00), Staunton (3:22) and Priam Alataris (Sr., Menlo Park, Calif.) (2:47) widened the gap between the programs to 10-1 to commence the second quarter before sophomore Elliot Goldstein (2:28, man-up) to inch the Huskies back to within eight at 10-2.

Edlund (2:05, penalty shot; 51 seconds; nine seconds, penalty shot) scored around a response by Washington senior Kevin Zhang (1:09) to make it a 13-3 game at halftime.

Michigan further padded its lead to start the third quarter as Edlund buried man-up (5:42) and penalty shots (4;59), while Cardenas connected on a natural goal (2:30) before Washington answered via a natural score from freshman Adrien Lerouge to move the needle to 16-4 heading into the fourth quarter.

Junior Luke Taylor trimmed the final margin down to 11 by delivering even-strength (5:10) and man-up (57 seconds) goals to sandwich a power-play point by Zach Fuchs (Fr., San Francisco, Calif.) at 2:35 to close out a 17-6 contest.
