ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The United States Naval Academy went into the program’s video archives and pulled the Midshipmen’s 11-8 defeat of Bucknell University in the 2006 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship semifinals at Princeton University’s DeNunzio Pool. The win advanced Navy into the CWPA Eastern Championship title game versus the host Tigers of Princeton – which defeated St. Francis College Brooklyn in the other semifinal.
Tied at three-all following one quarter of action, Navy pulled ahead 5-4 by halftime and carried an 8-6 scoreboard advantage heading into the final frame.
Mike Mulvey scored a trio of goals in the semifinal game to lead the Navy offense, while George Naughton tallied 12 saves and a steal in goal for the Mids.
