PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Northwest Division Champion Oregon State University wrapped up its 2019 season and participation at the 2019 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship by managing host/Mid-Atlantic Division Fourth Place finisher the University of Pittsburgh, 18-6, in a 13th/15th Place game at Pitt’s Trees Pool.

  • Due to pool time constraints, the 13th and 15th place positions in the 16-team National Collegiate Club Championship are rarely played out as the winners and losers of the final two games on Day Two of the event tie for 13th and 15th place, respectively.
  • Oregon State, which previously tied for 13th in 2012, 2015 and 2018 to go along with a 12th place mark in 2014 and Seventh place finish in 2003, raced out to a 5-1 lead against the Panthers and never looked back in handling the hosts.
  • Leading 12-3 at halftime, the Beavers pushed the margin to 12-4 with a single tally in the third quarter before outscoring Pittsburgh 6-2 in the fourth quarter for the 12-score margin of victory.
  • Pittsburgh – which made its inaugural appearance at the Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship thanks to hosting the event – received a pair of goals from Matt Franco along with single strikes by Jake Dearborn, Danny Sachetta, Jake Novotny and Robert Maholic.
  • Santiago Gomez (Beaverton, Ore.) led all scorers with five tallies.  Justin Jay (Albany, Ore.), Andrew Kauffman (Salem, Ore.), Cameron Knopf (Portland, Ore.), Jared Pratt (Beaverton, Ore.) and Nate Coleman (Bend, Ore.) each accounted for pairs of scores with Maxwell Dillard (Folsom, Calif.), Terran Walker (Lake Oswego, Ore.) and Connor Wu (Campbell, Calif.) chipping in solo points.
  • In cage, Jake Roeder (Oakland, Calif.) earned the win for Oregon State with eight saves.  Aaron Kaplan took the loss with six stops for Pittsburgh.
