POMONA, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer Colleges seeks an assistant coach to assist the head coaches in all aspects of a highly competitive, National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III sports program. The assistant coach will be responsible for the coaching, teaching, coordinating logistics event management, recruiting, and various administrative tasks as assigned by the head coaches and the department.
Reporting directly to the head Men’s and Women’s Water Polo Coach, the Assistant Coach performs the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- 60% Coaching/Teaching – Assist with preseason, in-season, and post-season training and planning. – Analyze performance of teams and individuals – Provide leadership and instruction. – Evaluate opponents and develop competition strategies. – Assist with year-long recruiting efforts. – Organize and facilitate prospective student athlete visits. – Assist with NCAA and SCIAC compliance. – Assist with program budget. – Assist with alumni and parent relations. – Assist with fundraising. – Teach two physical education classes per academic year. – Other duties as assigned by the head coach or athletics director.
- 40 % Departmental Duties – Attend monthly department meetings – Attend quarterly assistant coach meetings – Contribute to the year-long programming of the following committees: -Diversity, Equity, Inclusion – Leadership Institute – Mental Health, Wellness, and Performance – Student Affairs – Other duties as assigned by the department
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required; previous playing or coaching experience is preferred. Capacity to positively interact with and support a culturally, ethnically, economically, and socially diverse population of students, faculty and staff.

REQUIRED HOURS: Must be available for extensive weekend and evening hours during the season. Travel will be required.
ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: Temporary, full-time, exempt position. The monthly rate for this role is between $5,546.67-$5,833.33. The specific factors that the organization will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include education, training, prior experience, and performance in prior role. This position is for the Spring 2024 Water Polo season, potential start date of early January.
