SANTA ANA, Calif. — Rancho Santiago Community College District seeks a part-time athletic instructor/head aquatics coach (water polo/swim).

Responsibilities

  • Teaching aquatics courses including: swimming, water polo, and/or additional Kinesiology-related courses to be determined based on the background of the candidate.
  • Planning and supervising team practices. Recruitment and retention of student-athletes. Coordination of a team conditioning program.
  • Ensuring program compliance with the CCCAA regulations.
  • Game scheduling, assisting with team eligibility processes, budget management, team travel, recruitment and supervision of assistant coaching staff, fundraising, mentoring student-athletes and supporting their academic progress, retention, and matriculation.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Applicants must meet one of the following):

  • Possess from an accredited institution: Any bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s assignment; or any associate degree and six years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member’s assignment. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master’s degree, OR
  • Possess a valid California Community College credential authorizing service in the discipline, OR
  • The equivalent (applicants who do not meet the above minimum qualifications must complete the Equivalencies Section in the application form and provide conclusive evidence of such).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at 2-year or 4-year institutions in Kinesiology courses.
  • Demonstrated successful water polo and swimming coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of the policies and regulations for California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
  • Experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and widely varying levels of proficiency.
  • A working knowledge of and experience with student learning outcomes and assessment.
