PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Brown University had 10 student-athletes garner Academic All-Ivy accolades in an announcement made by the Ivy League on Tuesday.  The five men and five women were key contributors to their respective fall teams with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Senior Richard “Dewey” Jarvis of football and senior James Myall of men’s soccer earned the honor for the second consecutive season.

Rico Burke | Water Polo | Senior | San Mateo, Calif. | Applied Mathematics-Economics
– Second Team All-NWPC … Ranked second on the squad in field blocks and ejections drawn.

Richard “Dewey” Jarvis | Football | Senior | Watertown, Mass. | Biology
– Finalist for Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year (Bushnell Cup) … First Team All-Ivy and All-New England … Led the conference with six forced fumbles and ranked second in TFL’s and sacks.

Tyler Kirchberg | Water Polo | Senior | Orinda, Calif. | Biology
– ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American … First Team All-NWPC … Led Brown in points, goals, assists, and field blocks … Named NWPC Player of the Week on Oct. 25.

Martin Martinez | Cross Country | Senior | Waukegan, Ill. | International Relations & Social Analysis and Research
– NCAA All-Region selection … Top Brown performer at the Ivy League Championships.

James Myall  | Soccer | Senior | St. Charles, Ill. | Computer Biology
– Honorable Mention All-Ivy …  Co-captain … Started all 16 of the games he appeared in as a midfielder.

WOMEN
Melissa Cairo | Volleyball | Senior | Hillsborough, Calif. | Health and Human Biology
– Honorable Mention All-Ivy … Ranked second in the Ivy League in total digs, third in digs per set, sixth in total aces and seventh in aces per set … Co-captain.

Rachel Lanouette | Field Hockey | Junior | Windham, N.H. | Education Studies
– Second Team All-Ivy … Tied for the team lead in scoring with 11 points on five goals and one assist … Tri-captain.


Maclaine Lehan | Soccer | Senior | Shrewsbury, Mass. | Political Science
– Co-captain … Invited to the Senior Bowl … Made starts in all seven of the Bears’ Ivy League games after missing the first half of the season due to injury … Helped post four shutouts in conference action.

Megan Ratcliffe | Cross Country | Senior | Carlisle, Mass. | Applied Mathematics-Economics
– First Team All-Ivy … Placed third at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships … NCAA All-Region, finishing 16th overall.

Katy Schmidt | Soccer | Senior | Corvallis, Ore. | Engineering
– First Team CoSIDA Academic All-American and All-District … Honorable Mention All-Ivy … Played 1,411 of a possible 1,475 minutes and helped the Bears post six shutouts.

Collegiate Water Polo Association
