BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Alumnus Robert Juhas will return to his roots as the 2020 Salem University graduate will serve as a graduate assistant coach for the Tigers’ water polo program.

He replaces Justin Vink who recently joined the Mount St. Mary’s University water polo program as an assistant coach.

A native of Pancevo, Serbia and graduate of Electrotechnical “Nikola Tesla” prior to arriving in Salem, W.Va., Juhas excelled both in and out of the water for the Tigers.

A two-time invitee to Serbian national selection camps, he helped his team claim the Open Belgrade Cup in his native country.

A four-year competitor for Salem, he posted 38 goals, 30 assists, 45 steals and 19 earned exclusions as a freshman in 2016 prior to tacking on 23 goals, 16 assists 50 steals and 26 drawn exclusions as a sophomore.  His scoring totals increased dramatically over his final two seasons with 33 goals, 15 assists, 30 steals and 41 drawn exclusions as a junior prior to netting 45 goals, 42 assists, 54 steals and 43 drawn exclusions in 2019. He concluded his playing tenure at Salem by ranking fourth in career assists (103) and fifth in goals (139).

During his time with the Tigers, he aided the program in finishing 8-15, 12-13, 11-14 and 12-12 with fourth, third, second and third place finishes, respectively, at the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-West Championship.  The team’s 12-12 record in 2019 marked the first .500 or better record for the program since the 2004 season in which the Tigers finished 15-12.
