BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Six Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) and five Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) men’s water polo athletes were named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® At-Large Division I and III Teams.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. A total of 54 men’s water players at Divisions I, II and III (27 Division I, five Division II, 22 Division III) earned Academic All-District® status.
Men’s At-Large Academic All-America® First, Second and Third Team honorees will be announced on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
On the Division I squad, Brown University’s Kole Newman (So., Santa Monica, Calif./Brentwood School) and Princeton University’s Pierce Maloney (Sr., Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) account for a pair of NWPC honorees, while Fordham University’s Balazs Berenyi (So., Budapest, Hungary/BME Secondary Grammar School), Michael Rehner (Sr., Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), Thomas Lercari (Jr., Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes), Jacopo Parrella (Jr., Naples, Italy/Umberto i State Classical) and Lucas Nieto Jasny (Jr., Barcelona, Spain/Collegi Closa) along the United States Naval Academy’s Caden Capobianco (Sr., Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach) combine for six MAWPC selections.
Further, Connecticut College’s Grant Archer (Sr., Miami, Fla./Columbus) joins the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Adam Ivatorov (So., Rockaway, N.Y./Staten Island Technical) and Colin Weaver (Sr., Huntington Beach, Calif./Mater Dei) as the NWPC also collects a trio of Division III honors.
