BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Due to travel arrangements by Washington University in St. Louis that will prevent the Bears from competing in any games on Sunday, May 7, the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announces a position trade between Washington University and host the University of Pittsburgh for the final two days of the 2017 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship at the Joe C. Trees Pool.
The change means that No. 10-ranked/Mid-Atlantic Division Champion Pittsburgh will now compete in the 2:50 p.m. game on Saturday, May 6, against North Atlantic Division Champion the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a spot in either Ninth or 11th Place games assured for the Panthers. Heartland Division Champion Washington University assumes Pitt’s spot in a 13th/15th place game at 8:40 p.m. this evening versus No. 16/Rocky Mountain Division Champion the University of Utah with the loser tying for 15th and the victor tying for 13th.
Pittsburgh will then continue play on Sunday, May 7, at either 2:15 (Ninth Place) or 3:30 (11th Place) against the victor/loser of a consolation game between No. 14/Mid-Atlantic Division runner-up Pennsylvania State University and No. 11/Texas Division Champion Texas A&M University.
