BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The United States Naval Academy will host the 19-game Navy Open on Saturday-Sunday, September 4-5, at Lejeune Hall and Scott Natatorium in Annapolis, Md.
The Midshipmen will welcome fellow Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC)-East Region institutions Bucknell University, George Washington University, Johns Hopkins University and Mount St. Mary’s University; Salem University of the MAWPC-West Region; Iona College and Princeton University of the Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC); the University of California of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF); and the University of California-Davis of the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) to grounds of the Naval Academy.
Action begins on Saturday, September 4, in Lejeune Hall as Johns Hopkins-vs.-UC-Davis (8:00 a.m.), Navy-vs.-California (9:15 a.m.), Princeton-vs.-Mount St. Mary’s (10:30 a.m.), George Washington-vs.-Iona (11:45 a.m.) and Johns Hopkins-vs.-Salem (1:00 p.m.) highlight the early docket. Later in the afternoon, defending MAWPC Champion Bucknell clashes with California (2:15 p.m.) prior to UC-Davis-vs.-Mount St. Mary’s (3:30 p.m.), Princeton-vs.-George Washington (4:45 p.m.), Navy-vs.-Salem (6:00 p.m.) and Bucknell-vs.-Iona (7:15 p.m.) wrapping up Day 1 competition.
On Sunday, September 5, the Naval Academy will use two sites with Mount St. Mary’s facing Salem (9:15 a.m.) and Iona (2:15 p.m.) at Scott Natatorium, while seven games occur at Lejeune.
Princeton-vs.-California (8:00 p.m.) opens the final day of play at Lejeune with Navy-vs.-Iona (9:15 a.m.), Bucknell-vs.-UC-Davis (10:30 a.m.) and Princeton-vs.-Johns Hopkins (11:45 a.m.) following prior to Noon. California-vs.-George Washington (1:00 p.m.), Bucknell-vs.-Salem (2:15 p.m.) and Navy-vs.-UC-Davis (3:30 p.m.) wrap-up the weekend slate.
