BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Laura Jimenez (Sr., Commerce, Calif./Montebello) of the University of Michigan and Sarah Myers (Sr., Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Humberside) of Indiana University were selected by their institutions as 2018 Big Ten Conference Sportsmanship Award recipients in women’s water polo.

One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree. All of the Sportsmanship Award winners have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, these honorees must be in good academic standing and must have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Jimenez recorded 13 goals, 20 assists, 13 drawn exclusions and 23 steals during her senior lead to help lead Michigan to the program’s third consecutive Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship (2016, 2017, 2018).  For her career, Jimenez concluded her time in Ann Arbor with 63 goals, 72 assists, 30 drawn exclusions and 56 steals in 138 games.

Myers posted 23 goals, 41 assists and 55 steals as a senior to aid Indiana to a Fourth Place finish at the CWPA Championship hosted by Bucknell University.  She concludes her intercollegiate career with 111 goals, 143 assists and 190 steals in 129 games.

Collegiate Water Polo Association
