CARLISLE, Pa. — Landon Kenney (Fr., Pleasanton, Calif.) scored four times to collect Player of the Game status as Southeast Division Champion the University of Alabama overcame Atlantic Division Championship Third Place finisher Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech) in a quarterfinal match-up at the 2025 Men’s National Collegiate Club Championship in the Carlisle YMCA Aquatic Center.
Alabama – which has previously claimed 15th (2017, 2018, 2019), 13th (2021, 2023) and 11th (2022) Place in prior appearances at Nationals – will take on Southwest Division Champion/No. 1-ranked/2022, 2023, 2024 Men’s National Collegiate Club Champion the University of California-San Diego at 5:10 p.m. Eastern later today in the semifinals. Virginia Tech – which earned a spot in the field due to Atlantic Division Champion the University of Virginia and runner-up the United States Naval Academy not attending – will clash with Rocky Mountain Division Champion/No. 19 the University of Colorado – which took an 8-3 loss to UC-San Diego in the first quarterfinal – at 4:00 p.m. with a spot in the championship’s Fifth Place game on the line.
For the Crimson Tide, Kenney, Michael Dilascia (Sr., Greenwich, Conn.) (three), Jason Tockstein (So., San Diego, Calif.) (two) and Hank Jaffe (Jr., Greenwich, Conn.) (two) posted multi-goal games with Will Rigazzi (Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.) and John Bryner (So., Columbus, Ohio) chipping in solo tallies.
Max Pagon (San Diego, Calif.) and Owen Fritz (Lansdale, Pa.) both scored twice to lead the way for Virginia Tech with Ben Farls (Baltimore, Md.), Tim Schwar (Lansdale, Pa.) and Tim Takacs (Howard County, Md.) tacking on single strikes.
In cage, Ethan Stout (Sr., Irvine, Calif.) turned side seven shots for Alabama with Tyson Souder (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) racking up nine saves for Virginia Tech.
