BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Gaia Hinds (Sr., Malibu, Calif./Malibu) and Lian Lumada (Sr., Long Beach, Calif./Cabrillo) keyed the University of California-San Diego to a Southwest Division Championship on Saturday-Sunday, April 23-24, at home in La Jolla, Calif., to share status as the April 25 Southwest Division Players of the Week.

The pair helped the Tritons defeat UC-San Diego “B” (15-1 W), San Diego State University (13-8 W) and Arizona State University (10-9 W) to claim the division title and a spot at the 2022 Women’s National Collegiate Club Championship on Friday-Sunday, May 6-8, at the Huntsville Aquatic Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Hinds posted eight goals, two assists, four steals and a five-meter penalty shot drawn versus San Diego State, while Lumada posted five saves in the semifinal win. 

In the tile game versus ASU, Hinds notched five goals, a steal, an ejection-drawn and converted on three-of-four five-meter penalty shots.  Lumada contributed 12 saves and a steal in the title tilt – including a five-meter penalty shot with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter to allow the Tritons to escape with a one-goal victory.
