BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Maddy Scarth (Surrey, British Columbia/Huntington Beach (Calif.)) of the University of Michigan is among three women’s water polo athletes to earn recognition as a 2025-26 Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree.

She joins Maggie Johnson of the University of Southern California and Genoa Rossi of the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) in earning the award.

One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by his or her institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree. All of the Sportsmanship Award winners have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, these honorees must be in good academic standing and must have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Scarth recently completed her junior season with the Wolverines and has posted 37 goals, 26 assists, six drawn exclusions and 24 steals in 51 games with the Maize & Blue.  In 2026, she notched 23 goals, 17 assists, six drawn exclusions and 17 steals in 28 games to help Michigan post an 18-10 mark and a Third Place finish at home during the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship.
