BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — University of Notre Dame goalies Denise Shaffer (Sr., Houston, Texas/Cypress Falls) and Olivia Sanders (So., Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) combined to allow seven goals against in 12 quarters/three games to help the Irish claim the 2022 Women’s Collegiate Club Midwest Division Championship.  For their combined performance, the duo share honors as the April 25 Midwest Division Players of the Week.

Competing at home in the Rolfs Aquatic Center, Sanders made three saves in the first quarter prior to Shaffer stopping seven shots with four goals allowed over three quarters during an opening 15-4 victory over Miami University.

The pair combined to shutout Illinois State University in the semifinals as Sanders (five saves) and Shaffer (seven saves) combined for 12 stops in a 15-0 win. 

In the division championship game against Grand Valley State University, the duo permitted the Lakers three second half goals in an 11-3 win.  In the title game win, Sander stopped 13 shots with two goals allowed in three and a half quarters of work.  Shaffer allowed one goal with a pair of saves in approximately four minutes of action.
