BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Former United States Naval Academy water polo student-athlete Marek Malik keeps slugging away as the three-time league champion Midshipman and Navy SEAL is taking his swings as a member of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business Master of Business Administration Class of 2020.

A 2009 graduate of Navy with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a SEAL from 2009-to-2018, the Houston native and Clearbrook High School graduate is pursing his MBA in Finance and Real Estate at Penn.  During his tenure in Annapolis, he helped the Mids capture the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championships with Fourth (2006, 2008) and Third (2007) Place finishes at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.  During his four seasons (2005-to-2008) as a Navy water polo player, the Midshipmen compiled a 96-31 record (2005: 22-7; 2006: 24-7; 2007: 30-6; 2008: 20-11) and never finished below Second Place (2005) at the CWPA Championship.

Following his time as a SEAL, Malik was admitted to Penn in 2018 to continue his academic pursuits.

Beyond his academic goals, Malik took his lumps for charity back in March 2019 as he competed in Penn’s Fight Night which pits the Wharton School of Business versus Penn’s Law School in a series of boxing matches to raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia. The nonprofit gets 100 percent of the proceeds as the fights raised about $67,000 last year, and $600,000 over the last 14 years.  More information on Malik’s fisticuffs for charity are available on the Philadelphia Inquirer website by CLICKING HERE.
