BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Carthage College women’s water polo team claimed the institution’s 2026 Upset of the Year award at the 2026 Ember Awards hosted on Monday, May 11.
The Ember Awards recognize outstanding achievements in athletics at Carthage during the 2025-26 academic year.
The women’s water polo team was recognized for the program’s 12-10 semifinal defeat of 2023, 2024 and 2025 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Champion Augustana College on Saturday, April 11, during the semifinals of the 2026 championship hosted by Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. The victory advances the Firebirds to the CWPA Division III Championship title game and punched the squad’s ticket to the 2026 USA Water Polo Division III Collegiate Championship hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on April 25-26 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in Claremont, Calif.
