BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 and Division III Top 10 Week 13/December 4 Polls.

Stanford University and Whittier College rate as unanimous top selections in the National Top 20 and Division III Top 10 Polls as the duo will enter the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship at the University of Pacific and the Division III Collegiate National Championship at home in Whittier, respectively, looking to conclude their seasons with national championship titles.

Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC), Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC), Golden Coast Conference, Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), SCIAC and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during each week of the season through the week following the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship.

2019 Men’s Varsity National Top 20 (Week 13/December 4)

Stanford University enters this weekend’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship as a unanimous top pick in the Week 13/December 4 National Men’s Varsity Top 20 Poll.

Stanford (100 points), which topped the Weeks 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12 polls while sharing the top spot in a tie with the University of Southern California in the Week 10 and 11 rankings, earns 100 points to once again rate as the undisputed No. 1 team in the country.  USC (92 points) remains at No. 2 with the trio of the University of California-Los Angeles (87 points), Golden Coast Conference (GCC) Champion Pepperdine University (84 points) and University of the Pacific (82 points) breaking out of a three-way tie at No. 3 to rate at No. 3-to-5, respectively.

The University of California-Santa Barbara (75 points), Long Beach State University (70 points) and the University of California (69 points) remain at No. 6-to-8 with Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Champion the University of California-Davis (58 points) rising to No. 9.

Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Champion Bucknell University (49 points) – which claimed victory in the only game last week by upending Northeast Water Polo Conference (NWPC) Champion Harvard University by a 13-12 score in an NCAA Championship play-in game – joins the University of California-San Diego (49 points) in jumping into the Top 10 as the duo are tied for the No. 10 position.

Harvard (48 points) slips to No. 12 with San Jose State University (38 points), the University of California-Irvine (30 points), California Baptist University (29 points) and George Washington University (25 points) standing at No. 13-to-16.

Princeton University (20 points), Loyola Marymount University (16 points), Brown University (12 points) and Santa Clara University (10 points) complete the Top 20.

2019 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 (Week 13/December 4)

No competition last week leads to no changes this week as the Poets of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Champion Whittier College remain a unanimous No. 1 pick in the Week 13/December 4 Men’s Varsity Division III Top 10 Poll.

Whittier (100 points), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (95 points), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (88 points), California Lutheran University (76 points), the University of Redlands (75 points), Johns Hopkins University (75 points), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (73 points), Chapman University (73 points), the University of La Verne (64 points) and Occidental College (45 points) remain in the programs’ prior placements heading into this weekend’s Division III Collegiate National Championship with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Johns Hopkins, MIT and host Whittier on Saturday-Sunday, December 7-8.
