PRINCETON, N.J. — The No. 18-ranked Harvard University women’s water polo team moved to 10-1 on the season after a 9-6 victory over No. 17 Wagner College on the final day of the 2020 Princeton University Invitational.
Senior captain Sofia Carrera-Justiz led the Crimson in scoring for the third match in a row, finding the back of the net three times. Carrera-Justiz, sophomore Inde Halligan and first-year Brooke Hourigan each recorded two assists, while Halligan and Hourigan also notched one steal in the match. In goal, sophomore Zoe Banks made 11 saves, achieving her second highest save total so far this season.
The Crimson got out to an early lead in the match, going up 5-3 after the first. Banks stayed strong in net, not allowing Wagner to score more than one goal in each quarter for the rest of the match. Despite slowing down the pace, Banks’ solid performance in the second half and Carrera-Justiz’s two goals in the second and third quarters, allowed Harvard to hold on for the eventual 9-6 victory.
