WASHINGTON, Pa. — Penn State Behrend finished out the Washington & Jefferson College Invitational at Henry Natatorium by suffering setbacks against Salem University, 25-8, and Wittenberg University, 23-7.
Facing Salem in the day’s opener, the Tigers outscored the Lions, 6-2, in the first quarter and never looked back in expanding the margin for a 17-goal win
Shannon Young (Roseville, Calif./Roseville) scored four goals as well as dishing out one assist for PSB, while Lauren O’Brien (San Ramon, Calif./California) registered her first collegiate goals by scoring a trio versus Salem.
Chloe Dodgen (Riverside, Calif./Hillcrest) and Kayla Scarpaci (Cypress, Texas/Langham Creek) split the game in goal with Dodgen tallying five saves and Scarpaci one
Taking on fellow Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III institution Wittenberg in the invitational finale for both teams, Behrend was able to stay in the game after being down 6-3 at the end of first quarter.
However, the Lions were limited to once goal in the second and third quarters as the Tigers pulled away.
Young and O’Brien each tallied two goals to to continue their scoring streak
Carson Hagood (Orlando, Fla./Bishop Moore Catholic), Emily McNaughton (Wexford, PA/Pine-Richland) and Daniella Rios (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Sagrados Corazones) scored one goal each in the loss.
