BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — The University of Southern California concludes the year as the No. 1 team in the nation as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the Week 9/March 18/Final Women’s Varsity National Top 25, Division III Top 10, CWPA Top Five and CWPA Division III Top Five Polls for the Coronavirus/COVID-19 abbreviated 2020 season.
California Lutheran University (Division III), the University of Michigan (CWPA Top Five) and Austin College (CWPA Division III Top Five) finish the season at No. 1 in their respective rankings, as well.
Voted on by a panel of coaches from the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), the Golden Coast Conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the Big West Conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the CWPA based on the cumulative results of the season, the polls are compiled and released on Wednesday during the season.
2020 Women’s Varsity National Top 25 (Week 9/Final)
The University of Southern California concludes the 2020 season at No. 1 in the Week 9/March 18/Final Women’s Varsity National Top 25 Poll.
USC (100 points), which once again rates as a unanimous No. 1 selection, holds down the lead position for the fourth week in a row. USC previously stood at No. 1 in the Preseason, Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 polls prior to snapping a two-week run by Stanford University in the Week 4 and 5 polls.
Stanford (94 points) and the University of California-Los Angeles (94 points) continue in a tie at No. 2, while the University of Hawaii (88 points), the University of California-Irvine (84 points), Arizona State University (80 points), the University of Michigan (75 points), the University of California-Santa Barbara (71 points) and the University of California (68 points) remain at No. 4-to-9, respectively.
The University of California-San Diego (62 points) and Fresno State University (60 points) exchange the No. 10 and 11 slots with Loyola Marymount University (53 points) and Long Beach State University (53 points) remaining tied at No. 12.
San Jose State University (48 points), Indiana University (43 points) and San Diego State University (40 points) persist at No. 14-to-16, while the University of California-Davis (34 points) and Wagner College (30 points) trade the No. 17 and 18 berths.
California State University-Northridge (27 points) hangs on at No. 19 in front of Princeton University (24 points) and Harvard University (24 points) which are now tied at No. 20.
University of the Pacific (22 points) holds at No. 22, Bucknell University (11 points) and Marist College (11 points) are tied at No. 23 and California Baptist University (4 points) completes the Top 25.

Cal Lutheran (99 points), Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (96 points), Whittier College (89 points) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (86 points) remain at No. 1-to-4, respectively, with the duo of Austin College (74 points) and the University of La Verne (74 points) tying at No. 5.
Chapman University (68 points), the University of Redlands (66 points), Occidental College (57 points) and Macalester College (51 points) complete the Top 10.
