PROVIDENCE, R.I. — No. 20-ranked Brown University women’s water polo dropped both games on day one of the Harvard Invitational at home in the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.  The Bears fell to No. 14 Princeton University, 16-9, in a Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) contest to start the day, before losing 14-13 to No. 21 Wagner College in the nightcap.

Facing Princeton, the Bears started the first quarter strong and trailed 6-4 at halftime. Gaby Montalvo and Megan Newby both netted two goals for the Bears, with seven other players scoring solo tallies.

In goal, Sarah Decker saved five shots.

Aubrie Anderson and Sofia Flierl each found the net three times for Brown against Wagner. Ella Palmer and Samantha Kim both scored twice, but the Bears gave up a last-second goal to fall to the Seahawks.

After trailing 8-5 at the half, Brown pulled within one after a Palmer goal with a minute left in the third quarter. Wagner responded to push ahead by a 11-9 count heading into the final quarter.

The Bears mounted a rally, tying the game at 12-all with three-straight goals before Wagner scored with 26 seconds left to go up one. With three seconds left, Kim found the net to knot the game at 13-1l, but Wagner beat the buzzer with a shot to earn the win.
