BRIDGEPORT, Pa. — Rade Joksimovic (Sr., Novi Sad, Serbia/Gimnazija Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj) of No. 14-ranked Bucknell University scored 22 times and added six assists during a 4-0 weekend for the Bison at the 2019 Bruno Classic hosted by Brown University. For his efforts, he garners notice as the September 9 Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) Player of the Week.
He opened the invitational by racking up four goals, an assist, a steal and an ejection drawn in a 15-9 defeat of Division III No. 4 the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday, September 7. Joksimovic recorded his best game of the weekend versus No. 20 California Baptist University by tallying eight goals, an assist, five steals and an ejection drawn in a 20-19 victory over the Lancers.
On Sunday, September 8, he keyed the Bison to a 17-9 win against the host Bears of No. 19 Brown by chipping in seven goals, an assist, two steals and an ejection drawn. In the weekend’s finale, he found the back of the cage three times, dished out three assists, collected a steal and drew an ejection in a 13-10 clipping of No. 17 St. Francis College Brooklyn.
The award marks the 17th weekly honors of his career following 12 accolades in 2016 on September 5 (Player/Rookie of the Week), September 19 (Player/Rookie/Defensive Player), September 26 (Player), October 10 (Rookie), October 17 (Rookie), October 24 (Rookie), November 7 (Rookie) and November 21 (Player/Rookie). He was recognized with the September 3, September 17, October 15 and November 5 MAWPC Player of the Week awards last season.
